EQUINE STUDIES (Grades 8 to Grade 12)
Apart from the Equestrian Academy, Beaulieu College offers Equine Studies to pupils in Grade 8 to 12. This forms part of the pupils' National Senior Certificate (NSC) qualification. Equine studies is offered as a matric subject at Beaulieu College and, from 2009, Beaulieu College will be the only school to offer this subject in the whole of South Africa. Equine Studies may be taken as a choice subject. All theoretical work done is reinforced within a practical environment. Pupils thoroughly enjoy the fact that they can leave the classroom and go and learn outside, experience and interact with the horses. Assessment standards are set against Equine Nutrition, Equine Anatomy, Riding Proficiency and Equine Health Care.
With many career opportunities within the equestrian field, equine studies forms a vital part in preparing the pupils for the world of work within the horse industry or as a constructive subject adding knowledge and value should pupils want to become a Veterinarian. Pupils at the College take part in horse riding and show jumping events through the South African National Equestrian Federation (SANEF) Schools League and have been very successful.
