Beaulieu College places a large emphasis on the importance of IT in our pupils' lives. Not only do they encouter it on a daily basis, but it will be a firm reality in their futures. While we promote general computer literacy in Grades 8 and 9, pupils are kept in touch with technology by experiencing it in almost all of their classrooms. Our aim, in the IT Department, is to make Beaulieu College a school on the cutting edge of technology in order to prepare our pupils for the real world. Every classroom has a dedicated teaching computer which is linked, more often than not, to either a data projector or an interactive whiteboard. Over the next three years, the Board of Governors has committed to a recapitalisation project which will see the IT Facilities on offer grow in leaps and bounds. A high-speed fibre optic network connects six buildings to the central servers which connect us, in turn, to the Internet. Each pupil has their own log-in account which includes e-mail and Internet access. This allows pupils to keep in touch with their teachers. Additionally, we provide a central Intranet site in which pupils can download class notes and upload their completed assignments for assessment. Our facilities include: - Two fully equipped, and networked computer labs
- Three classroom blocks, each with a teaching computer, many with data projectors and interactive whiteboards
- Four centralised high-speed printers (including one colour printer
- Scanning facilities
- Wireless network access to enable pupils to use their own notebooks
- 2.5Mbps Internet access
- External email accounts for all staff and pupils
